    AAST Foundation

The mission of the AAST Research and Education Foundation is to promote and advance the optimal care of injured and critically ill surgical patients by obtaining philanthropic support to expand knowledge, advance the art and science, and develop professionals in the field of trauma and acute care surgery.

The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma Research and Education Foundation was established in April of 1994 by the association's Board of Trustees with the objective to sponsor research scholarships in the fields of burns, trauma, and acute care surgery and to foster advances in education.

To date, the Foundation has supported over thirty research scholarships allocating funding to numerous diverse scientific and medical studies throughout the United States. In addition, the Foundation has provided researchers with the necessities to study new fields of trauma and assist in the development of innovative ideas for patient care and treatment.

The Foundation is currently supported by the AAST, private industry donors, and contributions from AAST members. This support has afforded the Foundation the ability to fund four scholarships each year and with further support, the Foundation hopes to expand its funding of projects into other areas of interest such as multi-institutional trials and more scholarships.

The AAST Research and Education Foundation also co-sponsors yearly research scholarships. Applications for scholarships are available in Scholarship section.

The current corpus of the foundation is $3.2 million.

Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible and may be made by any individual. Donations should be made out to: AAST Research and Education Foundation. A donation form is available on the website. Memorial and honorary contributions can also be made by downloading this form. For more information or to co-sponsor a scholarship, please contact:
