• Online Abstract Submission

The abstract system for the 2012 AAST Meeting will open January 1, 2012 and close March 1, 2012.

Please note that AAST has a NEW abstract company this year.  The previous company is no longer in the abstract business.  Please read all the information below carefully prior to submitting an abstract.  PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT AS THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Please note that all communications regarding abstract submissions and acceptance will be via email. It is imperative that the presenting or corresponding author's e-mail address remains current so that miscommunications can be avoided.

  • The abstract system is now open.

All abstracts MUST fit on one page.  The system will not let you finalize if your abstract is over one page.

PLEASE read the Instructional Guide and review the Sample Abstract prior to starting the abstract process.

     Abstract Submission Instructions:

    • A brief instructional manual has been created and will be available on the AAST website in the abstract area for you to reference as you go through the new submission process.
    • For non-member authors and submitters, you will be required to create a profile before you are able to submit an abstract or be listed on an abstract. Instructions will be included as you go through the submission process.
    • Please do not wait until the last minute to upload your abstract as the new system will require additional time. The abstract submission site will close at exactly 11:59 pm on March 1, 2012.

    Abstract Submission Guidelines:

    • The abstract must be original work.  It cannot have been presented at another meeting.
    • The abstract system will guide you through each section and a countdown of the word count will be shown.
    • There is no limit to the number of abstracts you may submit.  Your username and password will remain the same.
    • Please use correct spellings, for the title, authors and presenters. (There is a spell check button for each section.)
    • Abstracts not completed by the deadline date will not be reviewed by the Program committee
    • Do not reference any hospital or institution in the body of the abstract.
    • There are a number of excellent opportunities for oral and poster presentations.  Please indicate whether you have a preference for an oral presentation or poster presentation.
    • Abstract submissions accepted for an oral presentation must submit a manuscript to the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery.  Failure to submit a manuscript to the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery prior to the AAST Meeting will result in the author and/or the institution not presenting at an AAST meeting for up to two years.
    • Questions regarding the submission process may be forwarded to Sarah Cohen, AAST Education Manager, Sharon Gautschy, or (312) 202-5252.

Notification of acceptance and all other correspondence related to the meeting will be sent starting mid to late-April.  Information on abstract acceptance will not be given out over the telephone.  All communication is sent via email.

AAST looks forward to seeing you at the 71st Annual Meeting of AAST and Clinical Congress of Acute Care Surgery, September 12-15, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai, HI.
