Thank you for taking the time to consider membership in the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST). Founded in 1937, AAST was established to further the study and practice of traumatic surgery in its various departments. AAST currently has over 1,300 members within the United States and from 30 countries. Membership applications are due May 1st of every calendar year. Applications are reviewed by the AAST membership committee and selected applicants will be voted on during the AAST Annual Meeting.
The AAST application must be filled out online only. You must create an account on the website to access the application. Old applications will not be accepted. You will be able to save this application by section and return to it to complete. The required letters from two endorsers and one sponsor are to be uploaded to the application.
Create an Account to Apply for Membership
Application requirements include:
- Three letters of support from active members (1 sponsor and 2 endorsers) - these need to be uploaded by the applicant. Please make sure you have your sponsor and endorsers send you their letter.
- List of trauma related activities within the last year
- A current photo (in jpeg or tiff format)
- A current copy of applicant’s curriculum vitae (Guidelines for Organizing Your CV)
- A cover letter
Only completed applications by May 1st will be submitted to the Membership Committee for review.
Once you submit your application it will be reviewed by the AAST Membership Committee. The committee will select applicants they feel are qualified to be voted on by AAST membership at the business meeting during the AAST Annual Meeting. Notifications will be mailed to applicants in October. Please contact the AAST Central Office if you have not received notification by November 15st.
