AAST Website
If you do not already have a login for the AAST website, AAST staff will create one for you. Typically, your username is your institutional email address. Then click the “Forgot your password?” link to set up your password. Please take a moment to log in to update your profile and ensure there are no issues with your access.
AAST Complementary Membership
The AAST Board of Managers has provided you with a complimentary Associate membership in the AAST while you are a fellow. Click here for more information on your membership.
You also receive a complimentary registration to the AAST’s Virtual Annual Meeting in September.
ACS Fellowship Exam
You will need the login above to access the AAST ACS Fellowship Exam. The In-Service exam is given at the beginning of your first/SCC year, usually in October. The Final exam is given at the end of your second/ACS year, usually in June. AAST Staff will provide reports with the results from these exams.
The In-Service exam evaluates your level of knowledge at the beginning of the fellowship and will provide guidance as to which areas you may need to concentrate on during the fellowship program. Furthermore, the Final exam results will show how your knowledge and experience has improved over the course of the fellowship program.
Didactic Curriculum
The AAST ACS Program Directors have developed an outline of trauma and emergency general surgery topics that are felt to represent the minimum expectations for 2nd year fellows. This curriculum is meant to highlight topics that should expand upon the fellow’s general surgery training. These are meant to supplement the fellow’s knowledge base and expose them to some of the dilemmas faced by the practicing ACS surgeon.

Education Modules
The Acute Care Surgery Committee has commissioned the creation of educational modules that are available to you as a resource. These modules focus on topics that the ACS Committee has deemed essential to the acute care surgery curriculum. We currently have 78 education modules available and are adding more all the time.
Click here to access the Education Modules.
Meet the Mentors
The ACS Committee has also organized a program called Meet the Mentors. These presentations take place on Tuesdays at 3pm ET/2pm CT/1pm MT/12pm PT and are a unique opportunity for interaction with some of the top surgeons in the field. A meeting invite with the link will be sent out prior to each session. Archived sessions are available for fellows only on the AAST website.
Click here to access the Meet the Mentors recordings.
Journal Club
The monthly Journal Club takes place on the first Tuesday of each month and highlights innovative procedures and technologies, examines current controversies in treatment, and provides updates on the latest advances in the understanding and treatment of disease.
Click here to access the Journal Club recordings.
Caselog System
Our caselog system is run through the ACGME: Your Program Director or Coordinator should have (or will) set you up in the system so you can enter your cases.
Click here to go to the Caselog Entry System.
Please Note: You will need to enter your cases twice during your SCC year - once in the SCC caselog system and once in the AAST caselog system. You should see both caselog systems after you log in and be able to toggle between them on the main page.
