AAST Vascular Trauma Registry: The PROspective Observational Vascular Injury Trial (PROOVIT)

The study aims to establish a national database describing the presentation, diagnosis, management, surveillance, and outcomes of vascular trauma across participating trauma centers in the United States.

PROOVIT (PROspective Observational Vascular Injury Trial) is a prospective, multicenter observational study conducted through the AAST Multicenter Trials Committee. The study aims to establish a national database describing the presentation, diagnosis, management, surveillance, and outcomes of vascular trauma across participating trauma centers in the United States.

Patients older than two years with traumatic injury to a named large vessel will be included. Data collected will include injury characteristics, diagnostic strategies, acute and definitive management (including open and endovascular therapies), post-treatment surveillance, and short- and long-term outcomes.

The registry will also allow analysis of vascular trauma by anatomic region (extremity, torso, and cervical) and across age groups, including pediatric and geriatric patients. The goal of the study is to generate prospective multicenter data better to understand patterns of care and outcomes in vascular trauma.
