    AAST is announcing a new hands-on Robotic Training program for acute care surgery (ACS) fellows and attendings which will be in partnership with Intuitive, Inc. This 6-month program will include a monthly live webinar series led by national leaders in ACS robotics, simulation exercises, and funding to attend a live hands-on ACS robotics course at an Intuitive training facility:

    • Online modules with the Xi training platform
    • Simulation skills training and home institution case requirements
    • Seven live webinars (January – July) mentored by experts in the field
    • Hands on course (funded through AAST) at Intuitive training center

    A maximum of 15 participants will be selected. Associate member fellows in an accredited ACS fellowship program or attendings who are AAST members and credentialed in robotic surgery at their home institution are welcome to apply.

  • Application Requirements

    Fellow Applicants:

    • AAST certified ACS fellowship program
    • Access to a da Vinci Xi System and simulator (Xi with dual teaching consoles)*
    • Has at least one Acute Care Surgery mentor attending credentialed in robotic surgery and Program Director approval
    • Able to complete at least 10 robotic cases as a primary console surgeon
    • Able to attend all webinars and the in-person hands-on skills day**

    *if institution does not have dual-console available, then signed certification from attending mentor that fellow will be the primary console surgeon on all cases used to meet the case volume requirementAttending Applicants:

    • AAST Associate member or Fellow Member
    • Attending on trauma/acute care surgery service
    • Access to da Vinci Xi system and simulator and credentialed in robotic surgery at your home institution
    • Able to complete at least 10 robotic cases as primary console surgeon
    • Able to attend all webinars and the in-person hands-on skills day**

    **attendance at all webinars and the hands-on training day are mandatory for continued participation in the program and receipt of a completion certificate
