Dear Colleagues,
We are writing to invite you to participate in an optional research survey: “The current state of neurocritical care practice and certification amongst surgical intensivists”
Surgical Critical Care (SCC)-trained surgeons care for many patients with neurocritical care (NCC) diagnoses, such as trauma brain injury and neurosurgical postoperative issues. The American Board of Surgery recently began offering NCC certification to SCC diplomates whose practice involves a substantial amount of NCC (practice pathway), and those who have completed a NCC fellowship (legacy pathway). Both legacy and practice pathways will be available until 2026*. The goal of this survey is to define current NCC practice and support surgical intensivists by providing data on the impact of certification and factors associated with successful certification.
