This course introduces healthcare and biomedical leaders to anti-racist strategies, resources, and tools to achieve racial equity at both levels of organizational change and individual leadership practices. Participants engage in interactive exercises to evaluate their own biases and examine how they fit into the larger cultural experience in the United States. Through engaging multiple partners, participating in a series of small and large group discussions and activities, and watching and reflecting on videos, participants are empowered to explore the layers of assumptions, stereotypes, and biases, and systemic and institutionalized ideologies that lead to biased attitudes and discriminatory behavior. Participants partake in institutional and organizational problem-solving scenarios to build antiracism and racial equity competencies. Building on the successes of our previous vascular conferences, our aim remains to raise awareness of vascular disease, a progressive chronic illness whose onset is often difficult to detect. Whilst risk factors can usually point to its possible presence, it is frequently only detected when it manifests with a complication. There are several measures to prevent or delay its onset as well as a variety of options to slow its progression.

During the event, we will discuss the latest advancements and best practices of vascular medicine, through worldwide initiatives in education, training, research and practice. The event serves as a platform for educational opportunities and interactions with colleagues and experts in the field. It aims to raise awareness and ultimately help prevent onset, progression and complications associated with vascular disease.

The sessions will be led by regional and national experts on a wide spectrum of vascular topics and directed toward health care professionals caring for patients with these conditions. A multidisciplinary panel of speakers from vascular surgery, vascular medicine, neurology and cardiology will provide insight into medical management as well as open and endovascular techniques. Amongst the topics that will be covered, we will highlight peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysms, aortic dissection, complex venous problems and cerebrovascular disease. We have also included this year sessions on vascular malformations in children and other rare vascular manifestations of vascular disease. Question and answer sessions, expert debates and panel discussions will help fulfil our mission of high-level education for health care professionals.

The Scientific Committee has developed a comprehensive two-day program highlighting the current challenges and clinical development in vascular medicine. The topics of the conference present the latest updates in the diagnosis and management of common and uncommon vascular disorders. Lectures and workshops will be delivered by renowned vascular surgeons and experts from the UAE, the Gulf, and the United States. Moreover, dedicated time slots for workshops have been allocated to allow delegates a more interactive, hands-on experience to keep abreast of the latest developments and future perspectives within the field.

The conference aims to advance excellence in vascular surgery and vascular medicine by promoting research, education, and implementation of the most recent medical updates into clinical practice, and to increase collaboration in the arena of vascular medicine in the UAE and the region.

This is a great opportunity to meet and network with colleagues, both national and regional, while expanding existing connections or creating new ones.

On behalf of the organizing committee of the 5th Abu Dhabi International Vascular Conference, we look forward to welcoming your participation in this unique educational experience, and hope to see you all engaged in the conference.

    Dear Friends, Dear Colleagues,

The World Federation of Neurology's XXVI World Congress of Neurology (WCN 2023) will be in Montreal, Canada, from 15 -19 October 2023. The congress will be proudly co-hosted by the Canadian Neurological Society (CNS), with over 2000 neurologist members. We hope that this event will bring us back to our regular congress routine and that we will be able to see each other in person, rekindle friendships and collaborations, and establish new ones.

This WCN will bring us up to date in the broad field of neurology, from tropical neurology to molecular genetics. The Scientific Program and Teaching Programs are at the core of the World Congress of Neurology. These are complemented by plenary lectures from leading experts in their fields, the exciting and entertaining Tournament of the Minds, cutting edge scientific sessions relevant to all the corners of the globe, and poster sessions that will feature the research of young neurologists of the future.

In addition to learning and science, the WCN offers an excellent opportunity for communication and exchange. After over two years of pandemic restrictions, we will be able to see and learn from each other!

The WCN rotates between six different regions of the world, all with different health systems, different backgrounds, different neurological challenges, and different needs. This congress will be a valuable forum for exchange of clinical experience, of personal trajectories, of science and to mentor and nurture the next generation.

The WFN will provide congress bursaries for young neurologists to attend WCN in person from low/low-middle income countries.

Montreal is a wonderful destination. A safe and relatively inexpensive city with much to offer. Montreal also has a rich history of neurology, with giants such as Dr Wilder Penfield, Dr Brenda Milner, and many others. The Montreal Neurological Institute will be open to those interested in the history of neurology. Montreal is a multicultural city that has at its core French culture, with all the different aspects of French culture, particularly a keen interest in food.

For the WFN and its Member Societies, this biennial meeting is an opportunity to highlight the global reality of our neurological world. We hope you will be able to join us for what will be an exceptional meeting!

Each year the Academy selects an applicant organization from around the world to host a Congress and we are very pleased that in 2023 we will be going to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. This marks a new chapter in the long history of International Congresses of Aviation and Space Medicine (ICASM) and a "first" for the Academy in this fascinating region of the world.

The role and scope of ICASM covers the breadth of medicine, science and human factors in the topics presented and discussed. As President of the Academy, I would like to invite all those involved in aerospace medicine not only to attend the meeting, but also to consider contributing to the scientific program by submitting an abstract for an oral or poster presentation at the meeting. The Organizing Committee are putting together a program that will contain not only our prestigious Allard Lecture and Ernsting Panel but also varied and interesting sessions of original research and education across the practice of aviation and space medicine and its underpinning scientific disciplines. I know they are also developing the chance for delegates to undertake one of several educational visits along with the auditorium sessions. We are sure that the whole program will be valued and exciting for doctors, nurses, scientists and indeed all those whose practice touches on the consequences of flight within and beyond our atmosphere.

While the world has been impacted by the effects and associated restrictions caused by the Covid 19 pandemic the opportunities to meet and exchange ideas and information in person are now returning. To speak in person to professional peers, to meet over a coffee or a meal and to see aspects of aviation operations in a different environment is always the best way to gain a deeper understanding of the many varied and fascinating aspects and practice of aerospace medicine.

I am also sure that many of you would like to take the opportunity to see more of the culture of this exciting and interesting country. A program is being developed for accompanying persons although I am sure all will be interested in the country's fabulous Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Formula 1 circuit, the architectural heritage sites and, of course, serious retail therapy. The organizers are putting together opportunities to enable each of you to have a professional and culturally enriching time in Abu Dhabi in October 2023.

This is an event not to be missed....

See you all at the event.

Despite the high degree of organization, practice guidelines and well-developed protocols followed by trauma and acute care surgery professionals, care of critically ill and injured patients remains prone to error. Analyzing major errors and learning how to prevent them from occurring again in the future is an essential component of improving the safety of trauma and acute care surgery. Thus, the goal of developing early error recognition and rescue measures to prevent bad outcomes continues to be a top priority for trauma centers.

The 2023 San Diego Day of Trauma will focus on errors and lessons learned by our colleagues in the field. Nationally renowned speakers will present crucial errors they encountered, as well as interventions including operative techniques, institutional practices and approaches not always discussed in textbooks or literature, that were essential to accomplish rescue and prevention of bad outcomes. Speakers will include specialists in the fields of pre-hospital care, trauma surgery and critical care. Lectures, real-life case presentations and interactive sessions will engage attendees to promote improved patient outcomes.

The theme of #ASRAFall23 is "Precision Pain Medicine." The meeting will bring together more than 1,000 scientists, researchers, engineers, device developers, and healthcare providers from around the globe to share evidence-based knowledge about basic, translational, and clinical research; emerging technologies; and global health care trends to improve skills, outcomes, and access to patient care. We have orchestrated a dynamic array of plenary sessions from world experts, oral presentations, panel discussions, oral abstract presentations, and poster sessions covering the basic science, mechanisms of action, and clinical effectiveness of pain diagnostics and therapeutics.

We know that you are busy and need education and networking in a concise format. Particularly those working in private practice are giving up valuable patient care time to attend. That's why this year's main meeting will begin on Friday with a focus on key topics and hands-on learning, while still allowing plenty of time for networking and partnering with industry sponsors in the exhibit hall. We are committed to giving everyone a practical, educationally packed, extended weekend that will leave you inspired and excited to return to your patients back home.

Refresher courses will cover the future of precision pain medicine, chronic lower back pain, new science in neuromodulation, and pain medicine controversies. On Saturday, we'll take a look at the future of rehabilitation, interventional treatments for musculoskeletal pain, elder pain patients, and translational bench to bedside applications. Interactive sessions will cover practice management and regenerative medicine, and we'll again have our highly rated hands-on ultrasound and fluoroscopy workshops using live models and cadavers and covering a range of pain topics.

It takes the entire care team to help our patients, so as always, we welcome PAs, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurses with a full-day track of sessions. Plus, don't miss our Problem-Based Learning Discussion lunch offering where you can select from a variety of hot topics, moderated by leading experts. This year's program includes topics ranging from collaborating with lawyers to use of cannabis, cancer pain, and consulting with industry, plus much more.

We especially value the participation and contributions of the next generation of practitioners as well. Residents and fellows will find plenty of opportunities to network with seasoned pros. Additionally, the Thursday before (November 9th) will offer a "pre-meeting" program focusing exclusively on the educational needs of fellows and pain program directors.

And, as always, we welcome a diverse and inclusive array of scientific abstracts and ePosters, which give all attendees an opportunity to get involved and share the latest research findings.

We can't wait to share this exciting program with you. We promise incredible networking opportunities to convey knowledge from multiple disciplines about current practice, future developments, and solutions for advanced pain management.

    Calendar Event

This year's Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) conference will focus on two themes: basics of developing and running an integrated behavioral health program and low-intensity, high-impact interventions in primary care. Primary care represents the "front entryway" into the healthcare system. Primary care, family medicine, and pediatric teams are tasked with not only caring for the medical needs of their patients but with caring for the mental health needs of their patients as well. Embedding evidence-based mental health interventions within the primary care environment represents a unique opportunity to promote overall health in a less stigmatized environment, with opportunities for earlier intervention and improved outcomes. Considerable variability exists across primary care clinics in terms of populations served, patterns of medical and psychiatric conditions and comorbidities, internal and community-based mental health resources, and barriers to care. Even with minimal resources, strategic investments can be made in designing, implementing, and evaluating integrated programs within primary care. A growing evidence base also exists for brief, single-session mental health interventions that can be delivered right at the point of care. IBH teams of social workers, psychologists, nurses, and psychiatric prescribers all bring a unique skill set that can deliver highly targeted, single-session interventions to help serve the entire primary care population in a resource-efficient manner.

Course format involves engaging lectures, rich with case examples within the context of existing and emerging science. Breakout seminars will be interactive and emphasize collaborative learning. Attendees will be able to engage with faculty and other learners as they share their own integrated behavioral health experiences, challenges, and opportunities.

Live (in-person) and livestream (virtual) available.

Target Audience: This course is designed for the many disciplines and providers involved in primary care integrated behavioral health, including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, primary care, pharmacists, and pediatrics. The content is relevant to physicians, advanced practice providers, desk staff, and schedulers.
