Marcus Trauma Center of Grady Memorial Hospital is the only Level 1 trauma center in Atlanta verified by the American College of Surgeons. This is a 2-year program (ACS + SCC) at a premier academic trauma center in the heart of Atlanta. This fellowship will provide a robust clinical experience in trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care. Fellows will work closely with twelve full-time ACS-trauma faculty, SCC fellows, and surgical residents from both Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine. Previous completion of ATLS (active) and general surgery residency is required. Candidates must obtain a Georgia State medical license prior to start date. During the ACS fellowship year, fellows will perform a broad spectrum of surgical procedures including trauma, emergency general surgery, and outpatient elective general surgery. Focused clinical experiences during the ACS year will also include elective rotations in vascular, orthopedics, thoracic surgery and PMNR. Opportunities in ACS research are available and encouraged. An annual stipend is allotted for scientific meeting attendance and participation. The ideal candidate for this fellowship desires a career in trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care.
