Sponsored by Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Fellowship is primarily based at Jacobi Medical Center and newly accredited by the ACGME to recruit applicants for the 2018-2019 academic year (beginning July 1, 2018). Jacobi Medical Center, located in the Bronx, is an American College of Surgery verified Level I Trauma Center. With approximately 2000 trauma admissions (80% blunt, 20% penetrating) a year, Jacobi is one of the busiest trauma centers in New York City—out of a total of 17. Additionally, Jacobi is one of only three burn centers in New York City. Fellows will do nine months of critical care to be board eligible for Surgical Critical Care. However, their will be ample opportunity for operative experience in trauma and acute care surgery, as well as other elective ICU rotations. The trauma division has a robust clinical research program with a full-time research coordinator/statistician available to assist those interested in research. The Fellow will be supported by residents from the Montefiore General Surgery Program and five core faculty boarded in Surgical Critical Care. Suitable applicants should have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited general surgery program and be board eligible or certified.
