    Description: The University of Kentucky offers a 1 or 2 year trauma/surgical critical care/acute care surgery fellowship. This includes one year ACGME approved Surgical Critical Care residency. Applicants must be ACGME eligible. UK Healthcare, located in Lexington, is a 500 bed ACS verified level I tertiary referral trauma center serving rural central and southeastern Kentucky. The Section of Trauma/Critical Care/Emergency Surgery manages two intensive care units and provides coverage for the Trauma/Emergency Surgery Service. The service evaluates more than 3000 trauma patients and 1000 general surgical emergencies each year. This is a true acute care surgery experience. The program adheres to the ACGME work hour rules. Night call is from home, 4-5 night/month, every other weekend off. Clinical and basic science research projects are available and encouraged.
