Micro-volunteering is the concept that people are more likely to volunteer their time in short and convenient chunks with defined and achievable goals. The ideal micro-volunteering opportunities can be completed by one or two individuals, in a short (weeks to months) flexible timeframe, with measurable endpoints. This is a great way to engage our new Associate members in the work of the AAST. The AAST Board of Managers Community and Inclusivity Working Group is asking AAST committee chairs to identify micro-volunteering opportunities for their respective committees.
Micro-volunteering commitments would be independent of committee membership or responsibilities and do not necessarily indicate membership in a given committee. Committee chairs could request that committed individuals identified through micro-volunteering activity be subsequently appointed to their committee
