    We launched our first Turnover Time in January. Congratulations to
    Dr. Nicole Werner for winning the raffle prize. 
    The second Turnover Time featuring a paper discussion by Dr. Martin Schreiber was launched in April. Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Harrell for winning our second raffle prize.

    The AAST Associate Membership submitted three session ideas to the program committee for the 80th Annual Meeting. Stay tuned for an announcement in the coming weeks for the selection by the program committee:
    • “The New Surgeon: Life after Residency and Fellowship”
    • “The Acute Care Surgeon Considering an MBA” (AAST AMC and Healthcare Economics Committee)
    • “The Power of Mentorship” (AAST AMC and Military Liaison Committee joint session)

    Scholarship, 
    Awards, and Development Chair Updates:

    We are excited to announce the first annual AAST associate member essay competition. This year's topic explores the impact of COVID on the field of trauma and acute care surgery. Keep an eye out for the official request for entries.
    We have partnered with the AAST research and education fund committee to help reach the goal of 400 donors this year. There will be giveaways throughout the year to encourage AAST associate members to donate.

    The first 2021 AAST Research And Education Fund Associate Member Scholarship winner has been chosen:

    We are live in WhatsApp! You should have received an invitation to join the AAST Associate Member Group, but there are also interest-specific groups. Contact us if you are interested in joining WhatsApp groups specific to Research, Clinical Questions, and Jobs.

    Make sure to check us out on Twitter (@traumadoctorsam) and Instagram (traumadoctors)! A facebook group is in the works as well.  We recently finished #mentormonday series highlighting AAST mentor/mentee pairs - let us know if you have any ideas for a social media campaign.
