International Academic Mentorship Program
by Dr. Marc de Moya
The IRC is happy to announce the development of a unique mentorship program that is geared towards researchers in low to middle-income countries. The program is open to those in LMICs with support from their leadership to participate. All those who are interested should apply using the link provided below. The application for mentors is also open for any AAST fellow who has an interest in supporting these excellent budding researchers. The program will be a 2-year commitment by both mentor and mentee to design, develop, and deliver on a project. All projects will be submitted to future meetings and completed projects will be presented at future AAST meetings. The AAST will financially support the mentee to join us at a future meeting to present their work. During the mentorship time-period, there will be opportunities for the mentee to develop their knowledge in basic research concepts with the hopes of fostering future researchers across the globe. We are excited to offer this opportunity and we encourage any AAST member involved in Global Surgery to reach out to their contacts to encourage people to apply. In our initial year, we will choose two mentees and mentors to enter the program.
