- We are launching a new Turnover Time in July and will be featuring "A multicenter, prospective, controlled clinical trial of surgical stabilization of rib fractures in patients with severe, nonflail facture patterns (Chest Wall Injury Society NONFLAIL)."
- The education committee will be launching Forks and Things, a video overview of relevant trauma algorithms. The first featured will be "Updated guidelines to reduce venous thromboembolism in trauma patients: A Western Trauma Association critical decisions algorithm"
- A series of virtual professional development sessions will occur this summer and fall. Discussion topics will include marketing yourself, interviewing, and an overview of various ACS practices

Scholarship, Awards, and Development Chair Updates:
The AAST’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and Associate Member Council are hosting an essay contest for medical students, residents, and fellows. The Winners of this contest will have their essays published in Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open and receive a $250 cash prize!

- Congratulations to AAST Associate Member Dr. Christine Leeper for her selection as one of three recipients of the $50,000 AAST Research Scholarship. Dr. Leeper, an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Critical Care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is studying trauma-induced coagulopathy in the pediatric population. For more information on Dr. Leeper's project and the other research project winners, click here!
- We are working with the Research and Education Fund Committee to reach a goal of 400 AAST donors. We recently launched a giveaway campaign where two associate members who make a gift will be selected at random to receive a prize. This is a great opportunity for the associate membership to show our support. Here is the link to donate (any amount counts!)
