AAST would like to thank our 2018 20forTwenty and 80th Anniversary donors and let everyone know there is still time to make on impact on the future of our Trauma community. We are still accepting donations for 2018 Annual Meeting scholarships. We have raised $16,000 since last July, but we need $4,000 more to reach our 20forTwenty goal. Donations received before July 6, 2018, will fund scholarships for medical students, residents, and in-training fellows to attend the 77th Annual Meeting of the AAST and Clinical Congress of Acute Care Surgery and 4th World Trauma Congress in San Diego, CA. We also raised $8,000 in 80th Anniversary donations that will allow us to fund eight international medical students, residents, and in-training fellows to attend this year’s special Annual Meeting.

- Announcing: New Case of the Month Series in Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Open
Vascular injury management has always been a major component of trauma surgery. Over the past decade there have been many advances in elective vascular surgery. General surgery training has been unable to keep up the pace in many areas, especially in the arena of endovascular techniques. While endovascular surgery has gradually gained an important role in trauma care, standard open vascular surgery continues to occupy a central role.
TSACO is fortunate to have David Feliciano, as a guest editor, develop a series of monthly contributions on this exciting topic. Dr. Feliciano has been a key leader in treatment of vascular injuries for several years and is recognized as an international expert. He will highlight multiple areas of injury management demonstrating traditional approaches as well as introducing some important areas utilizing endovascular methods. These contributions will remind us that vascular surgery remains an important component of care for all trauma surgeons.

MULTI-INSTITUTIONAL TRIALS COMMITTEE SURVEY
Current guidelines for the management of emergent intubation among traumatically injured patients are conflicting regarding the ideal induction and paralytic agents. The purpose of this survey will be to collect data from trauma centers regarding their current practice for the agents used during RSI. We will look for trends based on hospital size, trauma designation, trauma admission volume, and geographic location. We would like to determine if there is a “consensus” regarding the most utilized agents to benchmark our own practice or potentially look for ways to improve our existing standard of care. The survey is thirteen (13) questions long and should take 5–7 minutes to complete.
Please click here to access the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LBPVLD9.
Thank you in advance for participating.
AAST would like to thank our 2018 Corporate Partners: Siemens (Silver), Envision Physician Service (Bronze), and OptiScan Biomedical (Bronze).
