Mission Statement
The mission of the Society of Acute Care Surgery Chiefs is to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and empower leaders in acute care surgery. Our society provides a supportive platform for exchanging expertise on managing divisions, navigating complex leadership challenges, and addressing critical topics such as hiring, mentorship, conflict resolution, and engaging with C-suite executives.
We are committed to creating a network where leaders can find guidance, share strategies, and develop innovative solutions to advance the field of trauma acute care surgery while promoting excellence in patient care, team management, and organizational leadership.
Looking Ahead: Keep asking questions
- How can we evolve the role of the Acute Care Surgery Chief to be more than a manager— into a true architect of culture, innovation, and impact?
- What legacy are we leaving behind—not just in policies and protocols, but in people and principles?
- How do we ensure that progress in surgical care is inclusive, sustainable, and adaptable to the needs of future patients and teams? Are we creating systems that support wellness and longevity in our teams, or are unknowingly sustaining burnout?
One Vision, Many Voices
- In what ways can we better integrate leadership development into clinical training— so the next generation steps into these roles not just prepared, but inspired?
- What bold, unconventional ideas are we willing to entertain today, to ensure we don’t fall behind tomorrow?
- How do we amplify our voices in the C-suite to not only advocate for our divisions—but to shape institutional vision and strategy?
- If we were to redesign the acute care surgery model from the ground up, what would we keep, and what would we do differently?
